HomePlug For TMNet Streamyx

While I am surfing through the web, I came across to this TMNet promotion page, and I found an interesting networking device. It is called it HomePlug.
I think, I was left behind by the technology quite far. I do not know this kind of device is ever exists.
What is HomePlug?
HomePlug is a standard body for power line communication. This organization of about 50 companies sets the global HomePlug standard, currently at v 1.0. HomePlug 1.0 is the specification for a technology that connects devices to each other through the power lines in a home. HomePlug certified products connect PCs and other devices that use Ethernet, USB, and 802.11. Many devices made by alliance members have HomePlug built in and to connect them to a network all one has to do is plug the device into the wall in a home with other HomePlug devices. Since surge protectors and similar devices may interfere with the high-frequency signals used by HomePlug, the directions shipped with HomePlug devices recommend plugging them directly into the wall outlets without using extension cords or outlet strips. So, homeplug is a device, typically function as transparent Ethernet bridges, connecting through the power line which acting like a networking cable, which with this device we do not need super lenght networking cable to connect computers in house. From a computer to the homeplug, a normal CAT5 cable with RJ45 is used. Then the data will be transmitted through the power line in the house.
For RM188 (promotion price) the HomePlug Ethernet adapter comes in a set of two. Plug one plug into any wall socket by the modem and the other wherever you decide to use the laptop or gaming console or other PC.
I personally think, the price is a little pricey. I hope the price will drop to below RM100 one day, yes it should.
