AMDÂ had introduced the Turion 64 X2 series mobile processor, a dual-core mobile processor featuring 64-bit technology on Wednesday 17th May 2006.
Based on the AMD K8 core, which is used in AMD’s extremely successful Athlon 64 and Opteron series, Turion 64 X2 processors build with Multi-core Power Management, AMD Digital Media Xpress, and AMD Virtualization.
Multi-core Power Management enables voltage and clock multiplier adjustments on a per-core basis. The result is reduced power consumption and extended battery life.
