Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission have asked all prepaid mobile phone services subscribers to register their prepaid number before 15th December 2006.

Failure to do so, will make you unable to use the number anymore and prepaid balance will be lost.

Other countries that have made registration compulsory include Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Switzerland.

I have already registered my phone number months ago. :)

If you are not sure whether your prepaid have been registered or not, just check it with your service provider.

I am a Celcom prepaid user, here how to check the status with SMS:

Type REG STATUS and send to 28882

In seconds, they will reply with your registration status.

Registration is compulsory for every single prepaid mobile number that a user has, with the respective service provider.
