After put this issue in the gray area for such a long time, finally the Adsense Team clarifies that images cannot be shown near adsense ads.

What they mean is the images which misleading the visitors. If images placed near the ads, sometimes, visitors will think that the ads are related or about the image shown. If they interested with the images, they will click the ads. So it is misleading advertisement.

The internet users think the images come with the ads, but actually its not. So, Google asking publishers not to line up images and ads in a way that suggests a relationship between the images and the ads. Even though there is space or a line between them, as long as the ads and the images appear to be associated, it is not compliant with the policy.

I think, thousands of webmasters out there, now, are working to change their images placement and to find the best way to put the ads, including me . There was a tips I mentioned the old post here. So, do not use the tips anymore.

The conclusion is, if the images do not easily mislead or confuse your visitors, then it would be okay.
