Microsoft hands out Acer’s Ferrari to me for free?

Above is a picture of Acer’ Ferrari laptops which were not given to me by Microsoft or AMD. Instead, they gave to some bloggers out there. From nytimes.com, A Microsoft representative confirmed on Friday that the company had sent out about 90 computers to bloggers who write about technology and other subjects (such as photography and, oddly, parenting) that could be affected by the new Windows Vista operating system.
But, I don’t believe when they accuse the gifts as bribes. Didn’t they never received anything for free before? Especially, as bloggers. If some manufactures want you to review its’ products, do they ask you to buy it yourself? Of course, they will send the product for free. In my opinion, the ones who complaining are the ones who were left off the recipient list. They always wrote about Microsoft, but they do not receive the laptop. So they felt frustrated.
There are also complaining bloggers, “… Microsoft did send them to bloggers who are not accustomed to getting multi-thousand dollar packages at their door on a regular basis. Rather than interpreting this as normal, they immediately thought it was a bribe. This is the one place PR screwed up. OK, a start of the chain of PR screwups….” read more at The Inquirer
“…Microsoft together with AMD gave out some timely Christmas presents (which are officially review PCs) to a bunch of bloggers this year. Brandon LeBlanc got one, Scott Beale got one, Mauricio Freitas got one, Mitch Denny got one, Zen.Heavengames got one, Barb Bowman got a media center, plus many other bloggers who has yet to receive it during the Christmas rush. They seem to have covered everyone from A-list to Z-list, a first in the industry with such a valuable gift, kudos for thinking about the little guys….” Quoted from istartedsomething.comÂ
Okay. Now I will wait for my Ferrari…
